— Reduce impact. Redesign business.

Reducing environmental burden
and helping improve the global environment

The expansion of digital technology has imposed new environmental burdens, including the substantial consumption of power required for data processing. We are committed to reducing the environmental burden related to our business under the Environmental Policy of the Hakuhodo DY Group.

Furthermore, we aim to contribute to a sustainable future by encouraging behavioral changes through the power of marketing so that environmentally sound products and services may be spontaneously chosen by people.

Hakuhodo DY ONE’s Environmental Policy

Thus far, Hakuhodo DY ONE has led the evolution of digital marketing by integrating insights into data-driven marketing and operational upgrading, as well as tech-powered improvements in productivity. Going forward, we will promote AI-, data- and technology-powered sophistication and efficiency of the ad creative and operational process while continuing to reduce the environmental burden of our business activities. Thus, we will help to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions across society with creative production and operation to generate better results while using fewer resources.

We will also work with both internal and external partners to scale the creation of environmental value through business by supporting communication design for environmentally sound products and services to be chosen by people, as well as experience design to nudge changes in behavior.

Under our corporate slogan of “SHAPE the NEXT ONE,” we will change environmental soundness from a constraint to a competitive edge, and develop initiatives for sustainability in implementation projects, thereby continuing to offer value to shape the “next” of society.

Actions to reduce environmental burden

GHG reduction (zero-energy building)

We switched the power used in Akasaka Biz Tower, where we and the Hakuhodo DY Group companies are located, to green power*1 in April 2023. By using a green power supply service,*2 100% of the annual electricity usage at Akasaka Biz Tower has been effectively greened.
At Ebisu Garden Place, where our Tokyo office is located, all tenants have been effectively powered by renewables with environmental value since April 2022. Energy security in time of disaster has also been enhanced by introducing an efficient cogeneration system using city gas. In addition, a verification test on using exhaust heat has been conducted since 2025.

  • *1 Green power refers to an effectively renewable energy source with environmental value derived from residential solar power generation that has reached the end of its power purchase period under the feed-in tariff (FIT) scheme. Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. and TEPCO Energy Partner, Inc. have concluded a comprehensive agreement related to the greening of power consumption for office buildings to provide a stable supply of electricity to tenant companies.
  • *2 Green power supply service refers to a service developed by Mitsui Fudosan that provides effectively renewable energy for electricity used in office buildings and other facilities through the utilization of non-fossil fuel certificates. This service is designed to flexibly meet tenant needs in achieving the Science Based Targets (SBTs) for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, allowing for customizable implementation rates and other specifications.

Energy efficiency, recycling and waste reduction

At our Headquarters and Tokyo office, we conserve energy by setting the duration of lighting and air-conditioning operation to ensure that the lighting and air-conditioning equipment is switched off at the right time.
In recent years, we have retained 90% of existing furniture and fixtures when relocating key local offices (Kyushu branch and Niigata office). When we changed the layout of the Headquarters office, we effectively reused and recycled resources by handing over surplus furniture and fixtures to recyclers.
In-office actions for resource efficiency include the sharing of office equipment through the introduction of free e-mail addresses and the reduction of installed furniture and fixtures. Measures to reduce waste include installing water servers to encourage staff to use personal cups and bottles, as well as online requests for approval and the promotion of paperless procedures with e-signatures.

Promotion of sustainable behavior changes

We are meeting the challenge of reducing resource use and greenhouse gas emissions of society as a whole and increasing choices that contribute to sustainability through the power of marketing and AI/technology.
Aware of the carbon footprint of scaled AI adoption, we are determined to advance our sustainability initiatives into social implementation with the Sei-katsu-sha Centered Mindset.

Sponsoring Read for Green by Sustomo

“Read for Green – Support for post-wildfire recovery in Ofunato” is a project that supports forest regeneration organized by LY Corporation under the concept of “greening by reading.” Designed to help the reconstruction of the disaster area in Ofunato, Iwate Prefecture, which was hit by large-scale wildfires in February 2025, this project was implemented from February 26 to March 26, 2026.
The project featured a mechanism that enabled users to trigger donations by the simple act of reading an article on post-disaster recovery or forest regeneration in Ofunato. Funded by us and LY as sponsors, a user can donate ¥50 to the municipality of Ofunato by clicking on the “support” button at the end of the article, to be used for financing recovery efforts including for restoring local forests or preventing disasters.
Hakuhodo DY ONE participated in the project in recognition of its social value in translating the digital actions of users into real support.
